June 9, 2009: Howell Woods Nature Center, Benson, North Carolina

After work today I headed northeast out of Fayetteville to the Howell Woods Learning Center, near Benson, NC. This was a cool place, but I did not have much time to start with, and some severe thunderstorms in the area cut down on my time even further!

They are putting a new interstate, I-295, from North of Fayetteville towards Spring Lake
On my way to Howell...

Stopped to rescue this Box Turtle on NC-50
Howell Woods:
Brown Thrasher
above and below: I thought I had Acadian Flycatcher, but maybe its a Pewee!

Field Sparrow
Eastern Phoebe
Indigo Bunting
Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
