From Barr Lake it was on to Estes Park, and the MacGregor's Lodge was great, we definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to this area!

BIRDING SUMMARY: Melissa sighted the first bird of the trip, an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN (#1), while we were still fairly high in the air! In Aurora, we found RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD (#2), GREAT BLUE HERON (#3), and DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT (#4) On the way to Barr Lake we added (#5) HOUSE SPARROW, (#6) EUROPEAN STARLING, (#7) RED-TAILED HAWK, (#8) MOURNING DOVE, (#9) AMERICAN KESTREL, (#10) WESTERN MEADOWLARK, (#11) COMMON GRACKLE, (#12) KILLDEER, (#13) ROCK PIGEON, and (#14) AMERICAN CROW. Nearby, we found a family of young (#15) BURROWING OWLS, that were quite photogenic. Also at this spot on 112th in Reunion were (#16) SWAINSONS HAWK, (#17) EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES, (#18) WESTERN KINGBIRDS, and (#19) HORNED LARKS. At the feeder we found a (#20) BULLOCK'S ORIOLE, along with the more common (to us!) (#21) AMERICAN GOLDFINCH and COMMON GRACKLE. There was also a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE nest along the trail going along the lakeshore!Plains

Melissa took this great shot of young Burrowing Owls
