I got a few nice photos in the backyard this morning, of American Tree Sparrows, and a shot of the flock of Pine Siskins that have been hanging around...

January 4, 2009: Birdfeeders in Alden, NY
Two unusual winter finches at our birdfeeders today, a PINE SISKIN and COMMON REDPOLL. The latter was very common in the Winter of 2007-08 because of an irrpution but there have not been many reports this year...

January 1, 2009: Birding the Lake Ontario Shore (Rochester)
We spent a little time today on the Lake Ontario Shore at Rochester, doing some birding. It was very cold! (mid-teens only). Not a whole lot of birds, but we did get our first Glaucous Gull shot, and also some interesting ice shots...
