November 28, 2008: Lake Ontario Shore Birding

We took advantage of our day off today to go birding along the Lake Ontario shorline, from Olcott, to Rochester (map at the end of the post). Our main intent was to see some of the Snowy Owls that have been reported ... We were not successful, but still got a few semi-decent shots in...

Horned Grebe - Olcott, NY

Bonaparte's Gull - Braddock Bay Marina

Red Throated Loon winter plumage - Summerville Pier (Rochester)

Above and below - Flying Red-Breasted Mergansers (Summerville Pier)

Found this Grey Squirrel at Ontario Beach Park (Charlotte)
Long-Tailed Ducks at Summerville Pier and Charlotte (above and below)

Ring Billed Gull at Charlotte
We were greeted by this collection of domestic geese at the Irondequoit Bay outlet
