July 6, 2007: Taos Pueblo, Abiquiu area, Bandelier Natl Mon, New Mexico (28 PHOTOS, 11 BIRD, 3 MAMMAL)

Today we spent the morning, and had a nice breakfast at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos. Then we took a tour of the nearby living Native American community of Taos Pueblo. Very interesting place to visit. After this, we drove west, across the Rio Grande Gorge, to the Abiquiu area again. Some of the scenery was again beautiful in this area! Based on a tip, we drove down the dirt "Forest Route 151", which runs west off of US 84 just north of the Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu Dam. This route leads down to the Chama River (article on this route). The scenery here was amazing.

To end the day, we headed down to Bandelier National Monument near Los Alamos, and then to Santa Fe for another dinner at Coyote Cafe Rooftop Cantina, and then off to Albuquerque to fly home the next day.
