July 13, 2005: Port Angeles, WA, Victoria and Duncan, British Columbia (14 PHOTOS, 2 BIRD)

We began the day in Port Angeles again. Late the night before, we found a lost collie on US-101 just outside Port Angeles. We could not get anyway to come and get her so we waited until the morning. Luckily, at this point the Port Angeles Humane Society helped her out, and we found later that her owner had been located!
Early in the morning, we headed on the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.

Dog rescue!

Approaching Victoria, BC

This is the western terminus of the Trans Canada Highway, which starts in Victoria, and goes all the way to Newfoundland (sign below as well)

This was the childhood home of Emily Carr, one of the Canadian "Group of Seven" painters.
After Victoria, we drove north to the nice small town of Duncan. They had a walking tour of Totem Poles in the City Center region. Below are some of the photos.

Duncan is also home to the largest Hockey Stick in Canada!

For the evening we spent time in nearby Cowichan Bay, a picturesque village on the water.

BIRDING: We only have two bird photographs today, both taken on Ediz Hook in Port Angeles, Washington....
