The trip began on an early rainy morning in Kamloops, BC. The otherwise scenic drive up the Southern Yellowhead Highway (BC Route 5) was marred by rain and fog. At Tete Jeune Cache, we joined the main Yellowhead Highway (Route 16), eastward into Jasper National Park. Crossing back into Alberta also meant crossing back across the Continental Divide. We stopped early to see a nice waterfalls on the western part of the park on Route 16, and then headed into Jasper Town Site, where we had lunch at the Jasper Pizza Place. Our mid-afternoon hike was at Cottonwood Slough, near Pyramid Lake, which was very nice. In the late evening, we drove down to Maligne Lake. (Links Below)
A nice waterfall we found on Route 16, just east of the Western Entrance (below)
Near Jasper Town Site, the clouds lifted for awhile a little bit to give us a nice view of the mountains.
Cottonwood Slough Trail (area trail map), near Pyramid Lake, despite the drizzle and cool temperatures
Next we headed to Malign Valley. This was a waterfalls in Malign Canyon
Some late evening views of Maligne Lake (after 11pm!) (two photos below)

We encountered this Elk on the drive back from the hike
